Fair Trade Ghana Network

FTGN has been supporting its members in various ways: 1. Sponsorships to attend international trade shows, conferences, workshops and seminars.

• In April 2018, we sponsored a farmer from Asunafo Cocoa Cooperative Union, to the World Cocoa Conference in Berlin, Germany.
• In May 2018, representatives of 4 organisations (HPW Fresh & Dry, West Akyem Cocoa Cooperative Union, CIGMA and Solid Rock Association were sponsored to attend the Africa Fairtrade Convention in Kenya.
• HPW continues to have orders for their Virgin coconut oil as a result of the conference in Kenya.
• The Kenya conference also had significant impact on some of our cooperatives by gaining additional livelihood programmes and creating value addition for their produce.
• West Akyem Cocoa Cooperative Union since the visit has vigorously embarked on value addition activities.
• Member groups were also sponsored to participate in Ghana International Trade Fair in Feb-March 2018, and Bolgatanga International Crafts and Arts Fair (BICAF) in December 2017.
• We have supported our members on training visits to Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) to interact with experts for more knowledge in cocoa production and value addition.

2. Capacity Building and local workshops members have also benefited from the following:
• Business Development Training programme funded by Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund
• Business Organisation & Management
• Biodiversity

 3. Advocacy work to address producers concerns on low producer prices.
